Rose McNellis was born in PennsylvaniaĪround 1855 and moved to De Pere with her parents and siblings aroundġ870. John's mother, Rose McNellies, was the daughter of Dennis McNellis andĬatherine Carr. Although, on the 1870 census, he was living with the family of Dennis Donlay in West De Pere, there is no clear indication of a relationship between Ulick and the Donlays. Nothing else is known of his origins, and, unlike his wife, I have found no ties to other Irish-American families, other than his in-laws. On various records, he is referred to as a boiler maker and farmer. His death certificate does indicate that his parents were Mike and Bridget Stanton. I have not been able to verify or deny any of this story. According to my Aunt Angeline, she recalled hearing that Ulick had been raised in a Welsh orphanage before eventually immigrating to Scranton, Pennsylvania. However, I have been unable to trace him back to an exact location in Ireland. The name Stanton, or Staunton, is often found in County Mayo (MacLysaght 1980, 278). On his naturalization papers, he declared that he was born in Ireland and that he was 40 years old (which would place his birth year in 1830). He arrived in New York city in May 1865 according to his naturalization papers he filed in 1870 (Brown County, Declaration of Intention, 1870). He was born on 17 June 1840 somewhere in Ireland according to his death record.
Although he carried the nickname "Alex" or "Alexander," Ulick is really derived from Ulliam, the Gaelic for William (Coghlan 1979, 118). Not much is known about John's father, Ulick Stanton. it was clear when he was stopped that he needed psychological help for his mental pain that he went through.John F. he bashed two of his siblings off the track during his suicidal rampage, but failed at achieving his goal of rejoining cassy in the after life thanks to fred barns and will colson with their engine, 1206, when he reached the elevated curve at stanton pennsylvania. in 2010, stanton couldn't take the pain anymore, so he decided to end his pain, that he thought no one understand or even bothered to care at all, and seized his chance at ending his life when he took off unmanned outta fuller yard with his older brother, 767, in tow and pulling a long line of mixed freight cars. he never forgot his best friend, but he sometimes couldn't hold back his emotions sometimes on how much he missed her. but as time went on, the memory of cassy slowly faded away from everyone at AWVR, everyone except stanton. news of her passing deeply affected stanton the most, he couldn't believe she was gone forever. sadly, within two months of retirement, cassy passed away at the hospital. but unfortunately, in early 2000, cassy retired from old age and from a severe sickness she caught. they never had any accidents during this timeline. for fourteen years, stanton and cassy hauled all sorts of trains. stanton was quite impressed that he had a permanent engineer assigned to him, so much that he actually grew a crush on cassy, witch was quite odd.
she and stanton soon became good friends and very hard workers for AWVR. all that changed when he meet a young female engineer called cassy johnson. some of his siblings and other diesels of the AWVR sometimes had special engineers assigned to work with them. but as time went by, he began to develop severe depression and anger due to the fact that he always had different crewmen operate him. for over fifteen years, stanton worked hard pulling freight trains, of various sizes and weight, and sometimes pulled special worker's passenger trains all over the allegheny mountains of pennsylvania. when he was delivered to the AWVR in fuller pennsylvania, he meet with 25 siblings that were also with him seeing he was the youngest of them all, but was numbered the highest since he was numbered triple seven. Stanton west life started when he was constructed in the EMD shop in pennsylvania in 1971 as part of a order of brand new EMD SD40's for the allegheny and west virginia railroad. Most people believe that stanton west is only known for his infamous runaway incident back in 2010, but truth be told, all that lead up to that incident is based off his life
